Scholar’s Catering specializes in full-service event catering (Scholar’s Table) and delivery catering (Scholar’s Pantry). We offer everything from fine dining, buffets, receptions, and barbeques to casual meeting fare. We will custom-design any event to suit your budget, and always give you an outstanding and stress-free experience.

We never charge for delivery and when paying with a Journal Voucher your Pantry orders are GST exempt and Table orders are both GST and gratuity exempt.

A Note About Allergens & Dietary Preferences

At Scholar’s Catering we label Priority Allergens identified by Health Canada: Egg, milk (dairy), mustard, peanuts, tree nuts, seafood (fish, mollusks and crustaceans), sulphites, wheat, gluten, soy and sesame.

Scholar’s Catering does not have allergen-free facilities. We cannot guarantee that food prepared on-site has not become cross-contaminated with allergens, and do not assume any liability for adverse reactions. The common allergens identified on our labels are based on ingredients listed in the recipe, and may change due to ingredient or supplier substitutions.

Dietary Preferences are indicated by the following symbols or letters on our online ordering system, PDF menus and event signage:

 

V = Vegetarian

Identifies menu items that fit a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet, including eggs, dairy & honey.

VG = Vegan

Identifies menu items that are made from plant-based foods only. Menu choices with this icon exclude eggs, dairy, honey, and any other animal-derived ingredients.

G = Made Without Gluten*

Identifies menu items that are made without ingredients containing gluten.

OW = Ocean Wise

Identifies menu items using sustainable seafood which is caught or farmed in a way that ensures the long-term health and stability of that species. With Ocean Wise you are choosing an option that is best for the health of our oceans.

H = Halal

Identifies menu items that contain third party Halal-certified protein.

*Please Note

We cannot guarantee items made in-house are gluten-free due to the risk of cross contact. If you have celiac disease or a gluten allergy please let us know.

Our Sustainable Initiatives

Scholar’s Catering is a pioneer in the food services sustainability field, and one of the most progressive university catering businesses in Canada. We are committed to UBC’s Zero Waste Action Plan and have taken the following steps to become more sustainable:

Compostable containers, recyclable cutlery and compostable coffee cups for delivery orders.

Fair Trade and organic coffees and teas; Ocean Wise fresh seafood to preserve marine life and our underwater environment.

Electric trucks for daily deliveries throughout campus.

Over 60% of our ingredients are locally sourced (within 150 miles) including locally sourced poultry and eggs.

Consistently source ingredients from the UBC Farm.

Participate in UBC composting and recycling initiatives which annually diverts 67% of all campus waste from landfill.
